A brief history of LMAA:
Louisville Martial Arts Academy was opened in 1985 as Shaolin Kempo Studios of Self Defense in Jeffersontown, KY and owned by Jean Louis Arseneau. In 1996, Jean Louis Arseneau moved back home to Massachusetts, passing the academy on to his charter student, Allan Manganello, who renamed it Shaolin Kempo Jiu-Jitsu Academy. In 2003, the school expanded, taking on a few partnerships, moving to the east end of Louisville, and changed its name to Louisville Martial Arts Academy, in an effort to reflect the quality instruction of a variety of styles that were now being offered to the community. Today, Louisville Martial Arts Academy is owned and operated by Allan Manganello and Troy DeMuth, Allan's long time training partner and fellow Jean Louis Arseneau student.
